What happens when you fall in love but it was supposed to be fake all along?

After seven years of hard work as an independent artist, Ruth Moore has been signed to a record label. It should be the best time of her life, a dream finally achieved, but as their only chronically ill pop star, Ruth is starting to realise that, although the label has the language of inclusivity, they have no actual interest in accommodating her needs. She is left trying to figure out if her sudden success is worth the price it is costing her health.

Conner Delaney is a world-class hockey player trying to escape his dead father's legendary shadow. Following a very public meltdown, Conner desperately needs a reputation overhaul. He is at risk of being traded from his beloved Vancouver Vultures and he’ll do anything management wants to prevent that.

When their PR teams pitch the insane idea that Conner and Ruth fake date, insisting it’ll help grow Ruth’s audience and rehabilitate Conner’s reputation, what choice do they have? Conner can’t be traded. It would break his heart not to play for his dad’s team, and Ruth is in the middle of contract re-negotiations. She has to do what the label wants, at least until the new papers are signed. And, anyway, how hard can it really be? A few dates, some pictures together, and a hint of SFW flirting — they can easily manage that to help their careers. But as real feelings start developing between them, how long can they keep playing pretend? And what happens when it’s time to break up?
